Khartoum to host conference on Islam and West By: Abdullah KHARTOUM, Sudan: Several scholars and intellectuals from the Muslim world are expected to participate a conference on ‘Islam and the West in a Changing World’ due here. The objective of the four-day conference (Shawwal 18 – 21), being organized by the country’s Ministry of Guidance and Islamic Affairs, is to put in place the foundations of relations between Islam and the West, as well as correct some of the erroneous concepts about Islam. The conference will also tackle several other relevant topics such as terrorism and Muslim minorities in the West etc. Sudanese First Vice-President has promised that the government would extend all necessary assistance for the success of the conference, expressing hope that it would come up with recommendations that would be responsive to the aspirations of the Muslim Ummah.
