Dr. Iqbal says Hashmi arrest is not good omen for democracy By: Salman Alvi ISLAMABAD, October 31: Dr. Iqbal Javed Haideri, Chairman TNFJ Political Cell while expressing his concern over the arrest of ARD President and Acting President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Javed Hashmi has said that this step is not a good omen for democracy. He stated this while addressing an emergent meeting here on Friday in which political situation of the country was reviewed. Dr. Iqbal Haideri said in the present situation when a little time has passed after the OIC Summit and President of Pakistan is set to visit China and Korea, and Pakistan was making the whole world belief that democracy has been restored here, arrest of any politician who is Member of the National Assembly and Parliamentary Leader of his party was not a right step. He said whatever the inside story would be, the world would term this step a revengeful step. The TNFJ Political Cell Chairman said apart from the fact that who is in power and who is in the opposition, a few institutions in the country are called pillars of the State and extra care should be adopted while talking about the same; one of such institutions is the institution of the armed forces and country’s strength, solidarity and survival depends of complete faith of the nation in such an institution. He made it clear that in the present critical situation, priority should be given to the interests of the nation and the country over the interests of self and the party.
