Israel authorizing W Bank settlements breaching road map By: Ahmad Hammadi HELD JERUSALEM: The Deputy Defense Minister of Israel Zeev Boim said Thursday that the government is in the process of legalizing some West Bank settlement outposts set up in the past three years without permission. This is a violation of the “road map” peace plan and Israel's commitments to the United States that illegal outposts would be dismantled in line with the road map. The peace plan requires Israel to remove dozens of outposts established by settlers since March 2001, and to freeze construction at existing settlements. Jewish settlers have been establishing outposts since 1998 in an attempt to prevent land-for-peace agreements with the Palestinians. They have enjoyed the quiet support of hardline Israeli governments, which have provided soldiers to guard them on barren hilltops. END Israel brushes aside US loan cut over fence, pals hail
