Majalis-ut-Tabeen for Ayat Khatami held in Syria-Iran-Iraq By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani
HOLY CITY OF MASH’HAD, Iran: Majalis-ut-Tabeen and Fateha were held in the holy cities of Mash’had and Qom as well as Syria and Iraq for Ayatullah Sayed Ahmed Al-Khatami (late) who spent all his life in defense of religion of Ahlul Bayt (as). Ayatullah Sayed Ahmed Al-Khatami (late) was died in the holy city of Mash’had that houses the holy shrine of Al-Imam Ali bin Moussa Ar-Reza (as) on Rajab 3 this year, the night of the martyrdom of Al-Imam Ali Al-Hadi (as). Large number of people besides religious scholars including Ayatullah Sayed Muhammad Reza Ash-Shirazi and Allama Sheikh Murtaza Ash-Shahroudi and delegations from Kuwait, Pakistan, Syria and different parts of Iran attended his funeral ceremonies.
His funeral procession began from hussainiyah Al-Imam Al-Hasan al-Mujtaba (as) led by his son Allamah Sayed Mohsin Al-Khatami heading towards the holy shrine of Al-Imam Ar-Reza (as). Ayatullah Sayed Muhammad Reza Ash-Shirazi led funeral prayer and then the late Ayatullah was laid to rest in Bahesht-e-Reza. Quaid-e-Millat-e-Jafariya Pakistan who is also chief of the Tehreek Nafaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafariya Agha Sayed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi has condoled on the expiry of Ayatullah Al-Khatami.
Ayatullah Sayed Ahmed Al-Khatami (late) was born in the holy city of Mash’had in 1339 AH. Later, he migrated to the holy city of Karbala in Iraq. Sheikh Jafar Ar-Rushti, Sheikh Muhammad Ali At-Turk, Sheikh Yousuf Al-Khurasani, Sheikh Muhammad Sabzavari, Sayed Mirza Mahdi Al-Hussaini Ash-Shirazi, Sheikh Muhammad Hussain Al-Mazindarani and Sheikh Muhammad Ar-Raeesi Al-Isfahani were his teachers there. After his son Allama Sayed Mohsin Al-Khatami was imprisoned during the Shah regime, the Ayatullah left Karbala for Iran and stayed here.
