Throngs pay tribute to Al-Hakim in city of Sayedah Zeinab (sa) By: Sultan Ahmed DAMASCUS, Syria: To mourn the martyrdom of Ayatullah Sayed Muhammad Baqer Al-Hakim who was martyred last Friday August 29 in the holy city of Najaf, a funeral march was held in Damascus on Tuesday. An estimated 6,000 mourners including Iraqi Kurds and Christian Assyrians attended the march while holding black a’laam (flags), banners, placards and portraits of Ayatullah Al-Hakim. They, carrying a symbolic coffin, marched along the main street in the area of Sayedah Zeinab (sa), the daughter of Al-Imam Ali ibn-e-Abi Talib (as) and Prophet Muhammad (s)’s daughter Sayedah Fatimah Zahra (sa), about 10 kilometers (6 miles) south of Damascus. The area is home to the holy mausoleum of Sayedah Zeinab (sa). END |
