Iraqis protest Baratha blasts that martyr over 80
By: Ismail Zabeeh
BAGHDAD, Iraq: tens of thousands of Iraqis marched
through central Baghdad and in the holy city of Najaf on Saturday
morning, the day after suicide bombers left at least 80 worshippers
dead at Baratha Mosque, which is an important site among Muslims and
Christians.
The demonstrators were chanting slogans and waving banners.
"We will turn things upside down" if told to, one of the men blared
through a loudspeaker-mounted pickup truck leading the marchers.

Addressing a rally, Sayyed Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim urged Iraqis to stand
firm against the campaign by insurgents to set off sectarian violence.
"The alert Iraqi people, who are obedient to the religious
establishments, should not give in to sectarian discord," said Hakim,
head of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq.
Shortly after he spoke, a blast hit near the Awlad-e-Muslim bin Aqeel
(p) shrine in the city of Musayyib, 25 miles south of Baghdad. At
least six pilgrims were martyred and over 2-dozen wounded.
