KUWAIT CITY: For the first time in the history of Kuwait, a big Hussaini procession was taken out on Ashoora – 10 Moharram – participated by more than ten thousand men, women and children.

The unlicensed procession in Ar-Ramithiah began at 12:00 am and ended at 2:00 am. The government had not given permission for the procession

The participants of the procession praised government security officials for their efforts and cooperation.

Meanwhile, majalis al-azaiyah at Islamic centers, mosques and hussainiaat drew tens of thousands of black-dressed mourners during first ashra of the mourning month of Moharram.

Stalls of hot and cold drinks as well as meal comprised of rice and meat were set up across the country by Hussaini organizations to facilitate the Hussaini mourners.

Interior ministry had beefed up security of all hussainiaat.

Majalis were also held in memory of 13-year-old Groom of Karbala Qassem bin Al-Hasan (a.s.) who was martyred in Karbala along with Imam Hussain (a.s.). In this regard, trays of Hena, candies, candles and sweetmeat were decorated.

Majalis will continue till 8 of Rabi`ol Ola, 3rd Islamic month.
