AL-AWAMIYAH, Saudi Arabia: Hundreds of devotees of
Ahl-ol Beit (A) in the city of Al-Awamiyah in eastern part of Saudi
Arabia performed ‘Tatbeer’ (slit open their heads with large sharp
swords letting their blood to flood) to show their grief over unjust
slaughter of Al-Imam Hussein bin Ali (A), grandson of Prophet Muhammad
bin Abdullah (A), on Moharram 10 which marks Ashura.

Mokab Osh-Shaaq Al-Hussein for Tatbeer took out in the Al-Awamiyah
city for the second consecutive year. The participants were wearing
white shrouds with swords in their hands and they were chanting “Ya
Hussein, Haydar Haydar”.

On reaching Ma’tam Al-Abbas (A) and Husseiniyah Al-Imam Al-Montadhar
(A), the procession began with bare foot.
This year, people from Al-Qatif and Al-Ahsaa participated in the
procession.

Grief shrouded Al-Awamiyah city with the beginning of Moharram, the
month of mourning.
