Saudi King pays first visit to Mo'minin-dominated eastern region

AL-QATIF, Saudi Arabia: Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Aal-i-Saud visited oil-rich Mo'minin-dominated eastern region of the kingdom for the first time after accession to the throne.

A grand hafal (party) was arranged in reception of the king by residents of Al-Qatif. Ulema and other dignitaries of the region attended.

He laid the foundation stone for a number of educational and training projects in the region, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

According to governor of the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT) Ali Al-Ghafees the new projects launched by the king included four technical colleges in Ahsa, Al-Khafji, Qatif and Hafr Al-Batin, 17 vocational training institutes for boys, and two higher technical institutes for girls.
