Saudis, Bahrainis commemorate Arba’in Al-Husseini

By: Abdulali/ Ali Al-Qadumi

MANAMA, Bahrain: Like other countries, Arba’in Al-Husseini – the day when Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein As-Sajjad (a.s.) and other Sabaya (prisoners) Ahl-ol Beit (a.s.) returned to Karbala from Shaam along with holy heads of martyrs of Karbala - was respectfully commemorated in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in memory of great matchless sacrifices rendered by Al-Imam Abi Abdellah Al-Hussein (a.s.), grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah (s.w.), along with his 72 faithful companions in the scorching desert of Karbala some 1,400 years ago for defense of Islam and Sha’riah, and protection of high human values.

In this connection, majales wa mawakeb al-azaa or the mourning sittings and processions were held across Bahrain and in oil-rich Mo’minin-dominated eastern region of Saudi Arabia under arrangements of different organizations and associations.

Tatbeer (slitting open head with sword causing blood to come out to express their grief over unjust killing of Chief of Martyrs Al-Imam Al-Hussein (a.s.)) was also performed in both countries.

Al-Matirfi, Dammam shroud sorrow marking Safar 17

AL-MATIRFI, Saudi Arabia: Like other parts of Saudi Arabia, mourning gatherings to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Gharib-i-Tous Al-Imam Ali Ar-Redha (A) were held in Al-Matirfi and Ad-Dammam on 17 Safar.
