HOLY CITY OF MASHHAD, Iran: On the birthday anniversary of Imam Reza (A.S.), spiritual ceremony of Flag changing of holy shrine held in in the Azadi courtyard. Khurasan governor Alireza Rashidian, deputy custodian of Astan Quds Razavi Mahdi Azizian, dignitaries and pilgrims of the holy shrine were also present on the occasion.
The flag of the sacred dome of Imam Reza (A.S.) is replaced twice a year in a special ritual, once in Muharram month and once on the occasion of birthday anniversary of Imam Reza (A.S.).

Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Rafiei pointed to the virtues and features of Imam Reza (A.S.) in his speech and said, “Razavi holy shrine is an ocean of affection and love and pilgrims should value the opportunity of being present in the holy shrine.”

“According to Imam Reza (A.S.), five characteristics of righteous and selected people are generosity without obligation, repentance after wrongdoing, thankfulness for divine graces, patience and forgiveness upon anger; these have been stressed by his holiness”, he remarked.

During Dahe-ye Karamat, every day, the cover of the Zarih was replaced in a particular way and a new cover was spread over the sacred Zarih.
